Custom SU Carb needles

Most rolling roads and tuners tend to go for maximum power at the top end of the rev range with no attention paid to mid range or even correct idle mixture for the mot, After many years of tuning we offer carb needles profiled to your engine be it single or twin setups of any size and indeed for any other make of vehicle equipped with SU carbs!



These needles can be profiled for any spec of A series or other SU carb application, some can be done at our workshop during an optimised tuning session, others may need rolling road as well which we can arrange.

As a footnote AC does stress that these profiles give a correct fuel profile for your engine and do not solve problems caused by worn carbs.

Optimised advance curves

For Lucas Distributors on the A series

Another source of poor performance is running an incorrect advance curve in the distributor, we have found over the years that most std engines dont really have the right advance curve this is mainly down to production tolerances and what the final factory spec was decided on for the test engine, owing to the former this wont suit all engines, when the engine is modified this becomes a bigger issue especially when there are only a few aftermarket modifed distributors on the market which are still hamstrung with fixed curves for certain camshafts.

AC solved the problem again by offering exchange distributors with a curve modified to suit the spec of your engine, most can be done in advance but some we check your engine and modify to suit.

AC modifies the Metro issue electronic igntion and lucas 45d type points distributors.

Heres the parts that control the igntion advance, different weight springs and addition or removal from the advance weights alter the timing curve, this is the area AC modifies to suit your engine.

These virtually always forgotten items make the difference between a dog of an engine and a nice drivable machine, all our built engines feature these items as standard and can be fitted to any A series during one of our tuning sessions or some can be done by post.
