Megajolt ECU systems



In recent years proper mappable engine management systems have become more availiable and reasonably priced making them a cost effective tuning tool for the A series and many others.

We have been experiementing with these systems and can now offer a mapping service so AC can apply his skills to tuning the advance curve in the ECU

We only cover carb applications to start with and injection later on with probably an injection system retro fitted to our project abarth racecar.

Although the megajolt system was designed for home install and setup we are able to supply and fit and map systems for owners who do not wish to get their hands dirty! this is of course the more exspensive route to mapped ignition as we use a custom made toothed pulley and tdc sensor mount for reliability, for those wishing to install their own kit no problem as the key for these systems is the actual programming or mapping, this is where we can assist, we experimented with using a rolling road with mixed results, the next stage was mapping the ignition 'live' where we drive the car and adjust the map as we go which has proven to be the ultimate method as we can tailor the map to suit he individual driver as well as provide an ignition map to suit the engine spec,
Of course this only suits road legal cars so race cars will have to use the rollers,



A mapping session costs approx £250 but does include a tuning session to assess the fuelling setup and general engine health so the owner must ensure their car is ready for tuning as we cannot map correctly a car that has worn carbs/incorrect setup, excess engine wear etc, we can carry out a diagnostic session on the car before a booking is made for mapping if theres any doubt.

one issue that can cause probems is the revcounter, as the megajolt uses a 'wasted spark' system so the original fit mini rev counter and most aftermarket ones cannot use the signal put out by the ecu, we can get the correct coversion wiring harness to solve this problem, we include this in all our installs and can also retro fit it to an exsisting setup.

The current range of distributor based systems do restrict whats possible when running a tuned A series, we have been modifying the advance curve on Lucas distributors for some years with very good results and will continue to do so, but with the introduction of the megajolt and the fact it is widely used now means we had to take a look at what it could do, after experiments on two test cars we can see its the way forward, with careful setting up this system offers much improved drivability even on engines equipped with wilder cam profiles something not possible in the past, we can map from low speed pickup when neogotiating speed bumps to correct timing at full throttle, and everything inbetween, owing to the custom nature of the maps we can create we do not sell ready made maps as we very much tailor each map to suit the engine in question and as we have seen over the years using custom needles and advance curves one setup doesnt suit another, the map we create for your car will be especially designed to suit your engine.
