We established 'Minilikes Motorsport' in 1992 operating from a small workshop in Gravesend, We offered repairs and servicing for owners of the classic Mini. From 1993 we began to build cars to customers specifications, but soon found we needed bigger premeses so in 1998 we moved to our previous location in Knockholt near Sevenoaks, In 1999 at the behest of BMW we changed our name to M.L.Motorsport. It was here we teamed up with Mark K of NastyGrafix an expert trimmer with interiors or vinyl graphics! and a very creative welder!

Over the years we have worked to make cars that are a little different from the rest incorporating original ideas to add that finishing touch, from paintwork to tailoring the engine specification to suit the owner. This is also reflected in the parts we use such as MB Racing wheels and carbon fibre interior and exterior parts, We always strive to provide something new and a little bit different. With numerous show trophies including being awarded MiniWorld Magazines 'Car of the Show' trophy at the London to Brighton mini run in 2004.
In 1994 we teamed up with A.C. Dodd an 'A' series expert' who produces quite simply the best engines and gearboxes with attention to detail second to none. All the engine specs shown on this site have been built and tested and rolling road checked at the same venue each time producing real world figures. The Dodd factor can be applied to any engine as anyone can book an 'optimised' tuning session for their mini. AC now has his own engineering pages on the site where he will give an insight into the work we do, he can also be questioned on our forum about all aspects of engine preparation. In conjunction with AC we began serious tuning using the rolling road at Sanspeed Bexleyheath whose equipment is proven time and again to give accurate power readings all the power graphs shown on this site are all done on the same rolling road so its easy to compare engine specs and see what works.

Over the years we have been taken part and prepared customer cars/engines for all sorts of club motorsport, from the quarter mile at santa pod, sprints and hill climbs, track days all with very respectable results! Particularly with Sprints we have had class wins in 1999, 2001, 2003. with the wins shared between our own MLM sprint mini and minis we prepared for customers, we have also prepared 'A' series engines for stage rallying, achieving respectable stage times against the establishment. We have also prepared 'retro' cars for road and motorsport and include, Delta Intergrale, Jaguar XJ6! and Fiat Strada Abarth, R5 Gt turbo. for 2007 we will again be out on the track with our latest projects our track day Mini Minus and another Fiat Strada Abarth being prepared for for a variety of road and track activities.
We have found that the benefit of competing allows us to evaluate performance of parts and engines and allows us to pass on this knowledge to customers when they are planning a car or engine build. With this in mind Our forum accessed via this site is constructed to give a wealth of information from engine building to the latest news on projects past and present, giving you the opportunity to find out more and ask questions relavant to your own project.

In 2007 we started a new chapter by moving into a new workshop where the aim is to concentrate more on our specialties such as engine building and tuning although all our other services will be offered with the exception of paintwork which will be done by an outside contractor that we will recomend.
 MLs workshop is situated in a rustic factory building built in the late 1800s to make munitions amongst other things!
